Personally, I'm not a boot wearer. Last year, I wouldn't be caught dead in anything except my ankle-high candy red Emu's - the most comfortable things on earth! But this year is all about branching out for me...that is buying more eccentric things for my wardrobe that express my personality - and so forth. Go bananas...Rachel's returning

I remember watching The Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo a couple years ago. I only saw the preview but it looked pretty interesting from what I saw, but I didn't follow it as faithfully and Project Runway or my other Bravo faves. However, now that I'm more in tune with the fashion world...I will try to tune in every Monday at 10/9c for an hour of style.

the cast: Taylor, Rodger, Rachel, and Brad.

Unlike PR it shows what the celebrities are wearing...and why they look so polished at events. Take Emma Watson for example - she has great style but she also has a stylist. It's interesting to take insight from a stylist guru like Zoe because they are the masterminds of putting looks together and building celebrities personal styles and signature looks.

I love her ring...I've always been a fan of huge rings!

Plus she is quite a fashionable woman herself and is known for pulling off what others can't. The show will give a realistic glimpse of what demands come for someone of her prominence and will interest future fashionistas into figuring out if they want to be stylist.

They're everywhere!

Pocket tanks are everywhere and were very popular this summer. We're not just talking about your normal plain shirt with a pocket; we're talking about the same racerback/loose-fitting pocket tank. I don't blame people for buying them or stores for selling them. They go great with an outfit and serve the same purpose as a plain or solid colored t-shirt. But these tees are more comfortable than your usual tight-fit and are more fashion forward and interesting.

< Take this one for example. It's Miley Cyrus and Max Azria from Walmart (her new line I have mixed feelings about by the way...), and costs seven dollars. Not to shabby if you ask me...

Gap and Victoria's Secret are doing this as well. Gap with a more fitted and clean cut feel for $12.99 and Victoria's with a more beachy, slouchy, and relaxed feel (perfect as a cover up!) for $38.50. I am personally a fan of the VS one because it shows that you are in tune with trends but like to purchase a different version of what's popular right now.

New Artist Tees at Gap

You may have thought the (RED) shirts from Gap a couple years ago were boring...but the new ones that came out this spring are a little more interesting. Plus, v-necks are always a plus.

You've never seen a shirt like this before!

Not many are brave enough to wear this one, but I love the detail!

I love the color combo.

They may not be the most creative and stylish things you've ever seen in your life. They look effortlessly fashionable with a funky belt and some worn in jeans. But think about. You spend 28 dollars and half of it goes to someone in Africa suffering from AIDS. I'm not an over-the-top activist, but I think it's important for everyone to contribute, even if it's just a little. Anyone can make a difference! If you ask me, 28 dollars is a fair trade. Plus, check out all the other (RED) products, like iPods and Starbucks products.

Since, its near the end of summer right now, I'm assuming that every one's two dollar Old Navy flops are just about worn to the sole, and have nice heel indents. Well, if you are looking to set yourself apart from the masses, try these jelly fixes instead. While others soles will be sinking, you will have firm, comfortable, and all-around fun shoes for the rest of the summer. The ones below are from various retailers from high-end to low-end (Burberry, Yesstyle, F21, Chloe, and many more!).

These shoes are easily matching because of their neon colors that clash well.

Or go black for an instantly chic feel...while still maintaining casualty.

Not to mention they are comfortable and cheap too! The last pair of these I purchased was 12 dollars from American Eagle's aerie. They look like the orange ones above but are bright yellow, and they put little stress on my feet. Also, I have a pair of black gladiator jellies from a BCBG outlet. They were 9 dollars. Can you believe it?

We've borrowed from the boys, the men, the 60s, and the army, but we've never borrowed from baby girls!

Speaking of yesterday's post..."the hot new designer" is a must for this fall season - preferably with very feminine, detail-conscious, and unique clothing.

Alexandra Cipparone is owner of ALEX&RA, and created her collection to shed a light on the "up-and-coming" San Franciscan fashion industry. Also, she's been a California native her whole life, living in San Diego to L.A. to attending college at UC Berkeley. She started her line a few months ago.

What kind of clothes does she sell?

Well, her inspiration comes from vintage finds (popular this fall), architectural elements, and modern art. It's also described as "ultra-feminine looks that are both fashion-forward and understated." Sounds like my kind of deal. Understated looks = effortless fashion. You'll definitely be standing out from all the girls at your school...You won't find these items at the mall! All items are handmade by Alexandra herself and can easily be customized to fit your exact measurements (for no extra charge!).

Here's what she had to say about her company:

"I began selling my line through Etsy and made a name for myself among both its buyers and sellers because of my feminine style and high attention to detail. My designs are largely influenced by my beautiful city of San Francisco, California and are made using fabrics that have a low-impact on the environment.

What's in your issue of Teen Vogue

Today, I got my September issue of Teen Vogue in the mail today. Edgy Taylor Momsen is on the cover and a few new things are inside the magazine as well. I'm not sure if I like her look (her eye make-up to be exact) but I love her clothes.

On page...

1 - Nike Ad - I am not a fan of the new "delicious training" idea...I used to love their old ads. I'm not in love with all of the pictures and cartoonish inside. It sure caught my attention though!

9 - Anna Sui for Target - I'm a huge fan of Anna Sui! I'm glad she's moving into more mainstream fashion. I think that this line will be popular because not only is it cheaper, it's related to Gossip Girl (which is an instant plus for many).

30 - Britney Spears for Candie's - Apparel, accessories, footwear...It will be interesting to see what the rest of her collection will look like. I'm not really A fan of Kohl's or any Kohl's - esque stuff, but I think Candie's does a great job putting out clothes for preteens or even teens, especially with promoters like Avril Lavigne or Hayden Panetiere.

43 - Burberry's Fall Ads - I love love love them! Emma Watson is the perfect person for the job and she looks great in classic plaid and one color tones.

50 - LeSportsac Ad - I love the new prints! Especially the cheetah and classic dots and stripes.

57 - Juicy's Ad - Make a mess? Do the don'ts? I can't decide if I'm a fan of Juicy's new rebellious look. Hopefully the new fragrance, Juicy Couture, is better than Viva La Juicy. It was too strong for my taste.

69 - Siren Ad - Ehhh, at least Paris's show is some what entertaining.

94 - Ugg Ads - I'm usually not a fan of the classic tan short Uggs (I prefer my red ankle Emu's...) But I think the blue sweater-striped knit combo is great. And so is the slouchy fit!

116 - Fall's Top Twelve

the eighties revival (hhmmmm I wonder if Michael Jackson has anything to do with this???)
the statement scarf - I totally agree that neon and bright is what you should look for.
fresh faces
rebel jems - I love big necklaces, big bows, and big sparkly jewels. A great way to spice up a boring outfit!
legging jeans - Sleek? Yes. Fashionable and edgy? Yes. For everyone? No.
hot new designer - Amen to that.
the fashion steal - I'm always for bargains!
high school phenom - Branch out. Don't wear the same logo tees and ripped jeans that everyone else loves.
collectable t-shirts - I'm a sucker for cute and comfy unique tees.
generation next - I'm all for young people stepping up and making a name for themselves in the world...Even if it's not fashion related.
military jacket - MJ's trends are trickling all over the place!
the new boot - I'm kind of sad...I'm a fan of ankle boots still!

188 - Urban Legends/Street Fly - Count me in. Layers are always great and hip-hop is inspiring.

And it feels good. But I miss Myrtle Beach though, and here's why:

I love listening to the waves.

I love the area by the beaches - the buildings are cute.

I love how everyone here is happy.

I love palm trees.

I love the feeling of sand between my toes...
and searching for shells, too.

I love seeing things you don't see every day.

I love clear blue skies.

I love the colorful array of things you see at the beach.

It feels like I've been gone forever! Although I had a lot of fun on vacation, it's good to be back and updating! Here are a couple things I noticed while I was gone...

from the journalism camp at BSU: There were people there from all different parts of the country...South Dakota, Indiana (of course), Wisconsin...to name a few. Trends that I spotted in common between all people included simple high waisted skirts, gladiator sandals, and simple embellished tanks. Keep this in mind if you are shopping for new clothes for the school year (whether it be high school or college). If you are going to purchase one of the items I mentioned above, make sure it's unique and will set you apart from a crowd.

from the Myrtle Beach: Fashion is a lot more laid back when you move more down south. Everyone has a unique style and doesn't need to get all dolled up in order to feel great - which is great! I saw many maxi dresses and graphic tees. As for me, I wore a simple hot pink Gap Body coverup to the beach, and I carried my beach essentials (iPod + sunscreen + sunglasses + waterproof camera) in a Betsey Johnson clear-view bag that I got from Marshall's for $19.99 - that's what I call a great steal. Here's what she had to say:

What inspires you most about vintage clothing?

I really love the history behind vintage clothing clothing and the unique-ness. For instance, if I want to wear something that is 70s/hippie, I'd rather wear real 70s hippie clothes than knock-offs!

Describe your personal style.

I have a love/hate relationship with shopping. When I'm online, I can look all day but when I am out shopping in stores, I am super fast. I am in and out like that! I always have a mental shopping list of things that I have been looking for - like right now, I am looking for the perfect leopard-print mini skirt! But I also keep my eyes open for something that I never would have thought of - today I saw this wool sweater at Topshop that I am dying to get!

I am mostly inspired by street style - I could sit for hours and watch people in the streets and their fashion and style - this is where I get a lot of my inspiration from. To set myself apart from others - I don't know if I am very different from other girls. I don't brush my hair as often as I should...!

Describe your ideal little black dress.

Tight, bandage fit with a black lace overlay and long sleeves. I actually thought I had found the perfect dress - it was vintage - then it didn't fit so it went into the store.

What staples do you believe every girl should have?

Definitely a good pair of jeans - it's so hard to find the perfect pair of jeans, so I always say when you find them, buy 20. A classic pair of black ballet flats - you can never go wrong with these and they can be worn with everything. A sturdy but oversized leather bag is great for shopping, traveling, etc. A perfect little black dress for parties and nights out and a good pair of sunglasses for the next day.

Who have been the most influential women in fashion?

Gosh. The most influential women in fashion have to be Anna Wintour, Vivienne Westwood, Diane Von Furstenberg, Rosita Missoni and so on and so on. There are so many! I mean, Vivienne Westwood...I can't even cout how many different ways she is unique...she was a one-woman revolution at the time! I don't know if there is any one woman in fashion I look up to - there are different qualities that I would take from each. From Anna Wintour - always wearing sunglasses!

Fast forward to 2029.

What do you think will be fashionable?

I'm not sure what it will be like - I hope it continues to evolve and we start seeing new things. Vintage, I think, will always be fashionable...it's just the re-evolution of fashion, really...in future years, the 90s will be considered vintage! I think the 60s-80s will always be popular and will continue to "come back around." Nineties fashion is having a bit of a surge right now. I think the 40s-50s is popular among some people but I don't see it ever really becoming huge again.

What is your best advice to experimental girls

who are scared to wear vintage?

Don't be! There is literally something for EVERYONE out there - if you have a more "tame" or "casual" style - there is still stuff for you. It's just more fun to dress it up a bit!

What do you have to say about your success in

establishing your blog and clothing company?

I'm really lucky that I am able to do something that I love, with both the store and the blog. Every day I wake up and get to research fashion, go shopping, etc. I started both the store and the blog because I was bored with everything else...I had just spent three years traveling and was back in my home country (Australia). I was taking a road trip when I got the idea and started the next day! Now I'm in America and haven't looked back!

What is your best advice to other bloggers or fashion

enthusiasts who want to get involved in the industry?

Literally, just do it! Just get an idea of what you want to do, do a little research, make your initial plan and get started. I'm an Aries and I never think things through...I always jump first, think later. If you are motivated, you will get there - just be prepared for a lot of hard work and heartache along the way!

I have good news and bad news. Bad news...I will be gone from Sunday, July 26 to August 5. I know it's such a long time, but until Thursday I will be at a journalism camp (cool I know, but it will definitely help me with blogging...especially the way this site looks!). Then from Thursday to the next Wednesday, I'll be in Myrtle beach.

Good news...I have a great post coming up tomorrow! I wont spill any beans, though, you'll just have to wait until its posted tomorrow NIGHT. My only hint is that it's about vintage...partially.

Over the course of when I'm gone, I'll try to make a few more updates. I'm not promising anything though. That's why what I'm posting tomorrow will be extra long. But when I get back, I will come with fresh ideas and a camera full of pictures!

Guess goes hard-edge rocker

I'm a big fan of Guess, especially their swim wear and tees. Their new clothes this season are...a bit different though. I don't know if I like it or not? It's kind of Ed Hardy-esque. But where is the luxury and signature Guess sleekness? I have to admit that there are a lot of trendy pieces, but I'm not liking the graphic tees or printed stuff.

They are for bold women who fashion-forward, feminine, and glam. There's no way in denying that peace signs have taken over the fashion industry. Don't get me wrong, I still support world peace, but I am so sick of seeing them in every color imaginable on t-shirts sold in teeny-bopper stores. Or hanging on a cheap silver chain on the jewelry racks at Claire's. So if you are going to bring out the over-played peace sign card, please do so in your own way, not how everyone else is doing. Crouching tiger, hidden Jon?

When Jon and Kate announced their divorce, I wasn't surprised. But it was a disappointment nonetheless. I just wish they hadn't become so materialistic, as you can see from the latest episodes of the show (the reason for their split, regardless of what Kate says).

Take Kate's new clothes, bikinis, manicures, and streaked hair. It's ridiculous when you compare her present look to her look five years ago. And Jon is a disappointment as well, he shouldn't be dating people who are twenty. But I don't think it's right for people to target their family...they have eight children, so it would be nice if the tabloids would lay off a bit.

And supposedly Jon was going to team up with Ed Hardy's chief, Christian Audigier, for a children's clothing line. However, for those of you who don't follow J&K's problems on a day-to-day basis, this is not true. They just share a love for Ed Hardy clothes and motorcycles. (from LA Times All the Rage)

On July 29 there will be yet another addition to the 21 family. There will be Foerever 21, Heritage 1981, Twelve by Twelve, Faith 21, Love 21 Contermporary, and finally, Cirque 21. It's "fashion with a twist!" If you ask me, it's highly similar to what they are already selling, I was expecting more of an over-top-feel and avant garde silhouettes. But I'll leave it you to decide whether you like it or not.

Ah, yet another MJ glove. And I've never seen a green and black and white color combo.

The classic but toned down military jacket. And yet another glove. That makes three MJ staples. I am also in love with the skirt.

I think I've seen this before.

Today I have reached 20 posts in this blog, so I kind of have a feel of how the site is running, and what kind of stuff that I should be blogging about. But after all, this blog is for you guys to enjoy. It would be really great if you guys left me some feedback - especially suggestions and what you want to see next, and how you think the blog could become more popular. Don't be scared to romp

Ask any 10 girls on the street. I bet at least 5 of them will say that they are scared to wear a romper. Why? Either because a) they don't like them altogether b) don't think they can pull one off or c) spend their money on more practical clothing. Well, If you ask me, a) that's their loss b) don't fret c) who said a romper isn't practical?

For those who can't think they can pull one off, look below. There is a romper for everyone. Just because the first thing that comes to mind when someone says "romper" is a multicolored mess of baby clothes doesn't mean that there aren't softer, fashionable, and sophisticated ones out there. It's just about choosing the right stuff to go with it. And if your confidence is still running dry, think of it this way: this is how trends are made. If you are scared of someone else criticizing your choices, don't be. At least you will have the confidence to pull something off, whereas they won't.

A romper can also be practical. Treat it as a dress. Treat it as a shirt, or even a suit. Treat it as shorts and throw on a jacket or a cardigan that separates the top and the bottom. If you buy a simple one, it can be worn in many ways (like the one shoulder one below).

soft/romantic: choose neutrals with subtle accents (such as the ruffle and one-shoulder), wear shoes with a more accents, and carry a simple signature bag of a soft and calm shade
experimental: choose an interesting silhouette or unique blend of color, downplay the look with simple but cute shoes, and carry a bag that intensifies your look
bold: choose a loud but solid color, or a funky but not overbearing print, wear shoes that contrast the colors in your romper, and carry a bag that slightly matches the colors in the rest of your outfit

BoA's "I Did it for Love"

I'm usually not a fan of international stars, especially not asian singers (even though I am asian!). But if you've heard anything about Boa Kwon, also known as BoA, a korean pop sensation, she's super successful. She's inspired by hip hop, pop, and R&B, and she's supposed to be the korean parallel to Britney Spears (minus the baldness, scandals, and tabloid problems). She's sung in South Korea and Japan, and she debuted her first English (which she's not terrible at) album this year.

One of her most popular songs in this album include "I Did it for Love." It's not that great of a song and not a good showcase of her English-speaking capabilities, but she knows how to create a catchy tune (enough to make me like a song and get it stuck in my head).

But she can dance. Like Rihanna. Maybe even better. And I want to say her moves have a touch of Michael Jackson...and so does her glove? The video (click the title of this post to watch) is surprisingly similar to Rihanna's "Umbrella" with the all black attire-wearing backup dancers, water effects, and props (BoA's cane vs. Rihanna's umbrella).

She looks pretty sharp with Sean Garrett (the artist featured in her song) in her all black patent...but I wouldn't wear it all together. A jacket like that with some dark wash skinny jeans and red pumps would look great!

I can't help but notice how similar their styles look. (I love BoA's ring!)

Alexa Chung on personal style

Have any of you seen It's on With Alexa Chung on MTV? I've seen it a couple times. It's pretty interesting the first time you watch it, but I think some of the games played on the show are weird. But the guests are interesting, and I respect the fact that she has a talkshow unlike the rest we've seen.

She's half-english and half-chinese (hence the Chung). Her voice is distinct and so is her style. She's held many jobs in modeling (Elite Model Management), broadcasting, and journalism.

According to MTV's Hollywood Crush, Chung said her style was similar to "a girl who borrowed her brother's school clothes via her grandma." She also said that her look is composed of a "tiny smock dress with some knee socks, ironic leather pumps, and a school blazer."

I was devastated when Reco did not get a chance to win The Fashion Show! I loved his collection and it was really unique. The wedding dress had such an interesting silhouette and it was nice how he included fashionable sportswear in his collection. It was very cohesive and should not have been eliminated.

I thought Daniella's and James Paul's collections should have had more color. But both really conveyed viewpoints. I loved the elegance and masculinity of Daniella's and the avant garde feel of James Paul's. Anna's was really unique (like Reco's) and was tasteful for young women. I would love to wear some of the pieces. However, I think she recycled some of the styles too much. The wave patterned dress looked like the pleats from LeAnn Marshall's (Project Runway winner) collection. The crystal bow looked boring for the second time.

But the for the final show, it was kind of disappointing compared to Project Runway. It would have been nice to have a preview of all the collections in the making, and they really shouldn't have left it to the audience to vote on the best looks. Also, the crowd wasn't that pleasing (in respects to being filled with industry insiders). I only saw Betsey Johnson and the housewives from the Bravo specials. Besides Betsey, I was expecting more famous people to be there.

But all in all, the designers did a good job of showcasing all the trends that will be popular soon, including:

defined/strong shoulders
futuristic textures
pieces that can be worn in different ways
bold, electric colors
metallics/embellishment

Au naturale

My summer has been busy beyond belief. So its nice to take a day off or take a walk outside every once in awhile. I had relatives visiting from overseas, so we went to an arboretum near our house. And visiting it was quite a refreshing experience. It was inspiring at the least. The weather was nice and it wasn't crowded. And I took a couple pictures in the gift shop, because the jewelry really made a statement. I couldn't even tell if it was a good statement, but there were a couple of intricate things I would have bought myself.

The Children's garden was so cute! And these plates looked very metallic and colorful.

There were so many pretty flowers...especially these multi-colored ones. And the pattern of the parking lot was cool too.

My aunt bought this for $70 dollars. It's brass and has semi-precious stones. It's from an artwear company from Atlanta. There were other ones too...a couple were shaped like roses and had real pearls, there were cherries, and there were ones shaped like pea pods.

Tonight, near 11:30 p.m., every movie theater will be packed with hundreds of eager viewers wearing makeshift Hogwarts costumes. How's that for a teenage obsession?

Maybe they have enjoyed having a secret obsession of Daniel Radcliffe, or watching Quidditch (which the movie will have, even though the book doesn't) brings them the utmost joy, or maybe they are proving to themselves that the books are in fact better than the movies. Or...maybe they just want to check out Emma Watson's fly sense of style...and the infamous Hermione/Ron kiss?

Well, according to Mtv's Hollywood Crush, this is Emma Watson's first onscreen kiss. It just so happens that it's between two actors that are like brothers and sisters and have known eachother since they were 11...Awkward. Watson explained this feeling of "wanting to get it over with," but ended up "pouncing on him."

But aside from that, I can't help but notice that this is the third Teen Vogue cover she's taken. And her view on style?

It's time for a wardrobe update

I really hate to say this, but summer is going fast and is almost over. Wow. I think part of my soul just died. I always hate those infamous words - they're usually said at the wrong place and time. But this year, you can make the best of them by looking at it this way: going back to school is like a new beginning (how cheesy!) because you get a chance to show people your personal style by buying new clothes (always a plus) and wearing interesting outfits. And here are some tips to guide you on your search to personalizing your new wardrobe:

BUY YOUR BASICS - Before buying trendy clothes, think about buying basics which can be paired with many things to create outfits. This may include: plain colored wife beaters, jeans, plain t-shirts, a pencil skirt, black flats, and flip flops.

BRAINSTORM - When you open your closet during your free time, try on outfits that you have never paired together before. Create new looks, even with only a few new purchases.

SIBLING SWAP - Trade garments with your sister or one of your friends. Even borrow some of your mom's clothes (it may not be as bad as you think). Chances are, you have something they want, and they have something you want. Don't wear their clothes the same way that they do, though. See what you can pair it with from your wardrobe.

BUYING ON A BUDGET? - Look for sales. The semi-annual sale at Victoria's Secret is going on right now. Buy things that you want that you think will spice up your wardrobe...Something that no one else will have. Don't have enough to buy new garments? Look for unique and moderate priced jewelry and accessories (like scarves) that will update your outfits without spending too much on clothes.

IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT THE CLOTHES - Wear your hair differently. Get a stylish and bold new cut. Paint your nails neon green. Try the new make-up techniques you saw when you were reading magazines. Walk with confidence and command a new attention to yourself.

Prep school mania

I can't help but notice the increasing number of T.V. shows that use prep school fashion. First came Gossip Girl, then came along a line of Disney channel versions including Jonas and Sonny With a Chance. But why? I guess that's why Ralph Lauren sells clothes in the first place. No one can resist the simplicity of a structured, clean-cut shirt paired with an interesting tie and a plaid skirt. It gives you style, class, and status. It has undeniably become an increased trend over the past few years. And if you ask me, it all started out with Britney Spears and her "...Baby one more time" video.

Tomorrow theaters will be filled with moviegoers who are waiting to see the legendary Bruno, a story of a foreign fashion enthusiast. What is the movie actually about? I couldn't tell you exactly, but here's what Wikipedia (where I turn to for all my problems..) had to say:

"Gay Austrian fashion reporter Brüno is fired from his show after disrupting a catwalk show during Milan Fashion week. Accompanied by his assistant Lutz, he travels to the United States to become a superstar. After a pilot of a celebrity interview show bombs with a test audience, he attempts to become famous via various methods including becoming a charity spokesperson, solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, filming a pornographic video, and adopting a black baby."

Sounds interesting...? It's a classic "mockumentary" which satirizes the army, black people (O.J. at the least), the gay fashion community (not cool), thick accents, and much more (I'm sure). I'm curious to see what kind of fashion will be showcased. From the previews, I would assume nothing less than extravagant (as seen from below).

On another note...The Fashion Show final four were decided. Daniella, Anna, Reco, and James-Paul will continue on to show a 10 piece collection as part of the final show. But for their challenge, here are my thoughts:

Daniella: She should not have won the challenge. Her dress was ordinary (I've seen it way more than what they called "Johnny's knockoff") and the color was boring. But she used the crystals well.
Anna: I wasn't a big fan of the print, but it was an interesting silhouette and I absolutely LOVED the bow with the crystals inside. But it wasn't really an evening dress.
Reco: His was my favorite. He used such an interesting concept of construction with the ribbons. The colors worked nicely together and he added just enough sparkle with the embellishing.
James-Paul: The dress looked matronly and heavy. But I liked the classic neck and beaded accent.
Johnny: He so knew he was making a knock-off. He even referenced it.

I hope Reco wins, but I am very interested to see what the other designers will show.

When life gives you lemons...

Super Lemon (also known as PANTONE 14-0754!) is one of summer's most "optimistic" trends. I don't know about you, but when I think of yellow, I think of summer, the sun, bananas, and asians. However, "super lemon" is supposed to be about warmth, happiness, and radiance. It should be paired with other tropical colors and is complementary to blue.

I know what you are thinking. How can I pull off such a bold color? But don't fret...while some people will walk into a room wearing a bold "super lemon" minidress, there are subtler ways on sporting this eye-catching color while still looking your best. Look for small accents of color, or if you are wear a solid yellow top, pair it with neutral bottoms. Try American Apparel for your simple clothes (lots of basic tees, dresses, shorts, and skirts). The clothes are simple, but the colors are not. They're unique and bold, and can be paired with milder pieces without looking over the top.

I love online shopping. I like the idea of being able to make purchases from the comfort of my own home and select things in an organized fashion. Although its an easy way to buy things quickly, I always hate paying for the shipping (that's why I always buy more when shipping is free!)

In order to make the best out of my online shopping experience, I like to try codes from retailmenot.com. It has over 150,00 coupon/promotion codes that you can try when you check out. In addition, there are 90,000 printable coupons. Plus its simple and easy to use. You just type in the store of your choice and...voila. Out comes a list of organized codes. It gives you the code to type in, what it's good for, and includes a link to the store's website.

Now you might be thinking: How does that work, do people just find random codes that work and give you a discount? Is this even legal? And the answer to that it yes. The codes aren't guaranteed to work 100 percent. Each coupon lists its success rate. Rihanna goes to Vegas

I was surprised and ashamed to see a picture of Rihanna sporting Lil Kim-esque fashions in Vegas. I hate to see women selling themselves short or leaving it up to skank fashion to get people's attention. But on the other hand, I feel terribly sorry for her and what happened between her and Chris Brown. However, my question is: Why is such a talented, young, and unique star wearing such unrepresentative clothing? I hope its not her way of coping with her problems. Yesterday, while everyone was preparing for their Fourth of July festivities, Serena Williams defeated her sister, Venus, at the 2009 Wimbledon. She wore white Nike.

Not only is she making a name for herself in the tennis world - she also has her own line on HSN.com called Serena Williams Signature Statement. It includes handbags, dresses and casual wear, and jewelry and accessories. Sounds like we have another Kanye. The bags are about $60+ and the jewelry starts at $20 for a ring. It looks like nothing special, but some of the jewelry is unique. Here are my favorites:

Fly kicks, Kanye

So apparently Kanye West, the man who raps about Jesus, is interning for Gap? Strange I know. I'm sick of celebrities who aren't involved in the fashion barging into industry...just because they can. But who knows. Sounds like he means business this time. He wanted to intern in order to get more background in fashion and retail. It's just what he needs to promote his new line of luxury Louis Vuitton sneakers which will cost about $700 per pair (not what I would call a good investment)...which where supposed to be out by now but aren't.

Bravo's "The Fashion Show" vs. Lifetime's "Project Runway"

Last night on the latest episode of The Fashion Show I was sad to see Merlin go home. As crazy of a person as he is, I think he did a good job of staying true to who he was as a person and designer. As for the final four, I hope Reco and James Paul are amongst the contestants still standing...

If you have no idea who or what I'm talking about, tune in at 10 PM E/P to Bravo. It's horribly similar to the old Bravo series Project Runway (my favorite show ever!). I miss Project Runway but have no choice to watch the new Bravo knock-off version. I must admit that The Fashion Show has a few interesting designers, but Project Runway had more talented and credible designers - hands down. But the next episode of The Fashion Show will determine who is in the final four and will get a chance to showcase a full collection on the runway.

Supposedly Bravo was creating too many shows related to Project Runway. Lifetime made a better offer while the show's producers accepted. NBC filed a lawsuit but Lifetime said that this action was "without merit." (information found from ew.com)

Nonetheless, I will be tuning in at 10 PM E/P to Lifetime on August 20 for the new season of my favorite show. I'm glad the show will continue to be hosted by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn (who beat out Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland) - they're half the reason why I watched it - and I hope it retains its catchy appeal and interest. It is also a rumor that the award-winning series will air on Lifetime for the next five years. Is it true? Only time will tell.

The Polyvore craze

For my Fashion Merchandising class at school I took last year, we had an assignment to create five collage boards of anything from shirts to bags and accessories. But when I say collage, I don't mean your average home art project of pouring through old issues of seventeen with scissors and a glue stick.

Polyvore takes collaging (is that even a word?) to a whole new and digitized level. It's all your pictures and graphics, paired with endless fonts and text, and even comes with music. Making a collage on Polyvore is just the same as the old-fashion way without the sticky mess. You can choose from thousands of garments from brands as common as American Eagle or as high-end as Alexander McQueen.
